My gums are receding and my teeth are very sensitive

My gums are receding and my teeth are now very sensitive what can I do myself to reverse the process, does this happen because i am brushing too hard, if I use a softer brush will my gums come back. I cannot stand the pain and if i try to scratch the top of my tooth with my nail it really hurts. What should I do?

The sensitivity can be due to the recession. One of the reasons can be hard brushing. so better to brush little softly. Any other periodontal problems can also cause recession. so it is better you consult a dentist to know whether any periodontal problem is there and the treatment plan can be planned according to it.
